Wahhabism and Islam

Many people think that the form of Islam practiced by the Saudi royal family - Wahhabism - is as ancient as the religion itself. But this is a modern creation and one with a political purpose.

Why does Islam get a bad rap? Part of the answer has to do with the religion of the Saudi Arabian state, which has its origins in a religious movement that occurred about a thousand years after the birth of Islam.
